Do I need a reservation to join your trips? Reservations are needed in most cases! Please visit our BOOK NOW page to see our schedule and to make reservations. You may visit our PRICING page to see everything we have to offer. If there is room on any of our trips on trip day, you may join us by arriving at least 1 hour before the scheduled trip. To make sure there is room before arriving, please e-mail or call us first. Remember that you will need cash to pay for your trip. We supply everything you need including kayak or sup board, paddle, pfd (life jacket), instruction and guide.

Do you rent or are all trips guided? All of our trips are guided, so we supply you with your own boat and equipment, but you are out with the group. We do not rent where you go out by yourselves, wherever you choose. Members may request to rent without a tour as per our schedule. Safety and proper instruction is our main objective. The water can be dangerous if not prepared, so it is always best to be out with an experienced paddler who knows the waters you are paddling.

Do you have canoes, paddle boats, motor boats or jet skis? We only supply kayaks and stand up paddle boards on all of our trips and do not offer any other type of water craft.

Do you have any double (tandem) kayaks? All of our kayaks and SUP boards are singles! We have on land and on water instruction on every trip, so even those that have never kayaked before will feel comfortable paddling in their own individual kayak while out with our guides. Our boats are Wilderness System Pungos which are the easiest, most comfortable and stable boat in the industry. Anyone that has paddled a tandem knows how frustrating it can be. Paddling yourself is much easier and so much more rewarding and freeing. We have converted hundreds of tandem paddlers. Trust us on this one!

Can children join in? All kayaks are singles, so all participants will have their own kayak and must paddle themselves. For this reason, children should be able to follow instructions, stay out on the full tour and be strong enough to keep up with the group. We usually recommend that all participants be at least 10 yrs. old. Some children younger than 10 yrs. old may be strong enough and mature enough to handle paddling themselves, so e-mail or call us to discuss your situation before making your reservation if this applies to you. Many choose to reserve a private trip for their group when small children under 12 yrs. old are involved. We run many of these trips each season and can tow the children’s boat while out to keep them safe and secure.

Do I need to bring anything? Read your reservation confirmation e-mail closely as much of the information needed is contained there. For a more detailed list, please visit our WHAT TO BRING page. Dress for the weather! Wear shoes that can get wet! Bring cash to pay balance as well as any on site purchases. Put on sunscreen before arriving to check-in. Leave coolers, towels, extra clothes, backpacks, bags and jewelry in your car or at home. Your items will get wet! You may purchase on site or bring your own water proof dry bag for small items such as a phone, cash, credit cards, watch, etc. We can hold some of your items in our dry bag that will be safe with us on our trip.

Can I bring a pet on any of your tours? We are sorry, but no pets of any kind can join us on our trips.

What time should I be at the paddling site? We ask that all participants arrive and be ready to check in at least 45 minutes before all trips. The location of the site can be found on your e-mailed reservation. Look for our white Astro van and kayak or sup trailer to check in. Late arrivals (30 minutes or less before scheduled trip time) will not be able to join our trips, credit card will be charged in full and there will be no refunds. We have a schedule to keep and it is not fair to other guests who did arrive on time. Please prepare by giving yourself plenty of time for traffic, to use bathroom, apply sunscreen, get dressed for trip and to find parking. Better early than late!

Do I owe anything on trip day? All reservations were made with a credit card. The card given was not charged anything, so your cash balance is due on trip day. If you would like us to charge your card, we can do so on trip day. Any other onsite purchases need to be paid in cash. Your card will be charged if the cancellation policy was not followed. Some private trips will need to leave a credit card deposit to hold dates.

What if I need to cancel? Please visit our website’s PRICING page on the menu bar at the top of this page for all information on reservations and cancellations. Please follow our cancellation policy!

Is smoking or drinking allowed on your trips? Smoking of any kind (including vaping) as well as the consumption of any alcoholic beverages is prohibited on all trips.

What if I have never paddled before? Beginners are welcome! All tours include on land as well as on water instruction and guides will be out with you on all trips. PFD’s (life jackets) are provided and fitted! Read our REVIEWS page to find what other beginners have said about their first time paddling. You are going to love it!

What happens in bad weather? If dangerous weather is forecasted, trips may be cancelled. If we need to cancel a trip, e-mails will be sent to those that made the reservation. Cancellation notices may also be found on our NEWS page very early in the morning on trip day. Sometimes calls or texts will be sent if weather moves in unexpectedly. If no notices are given, all trips are on no matter the weather in your area. In very rare cases, trips may be cancelled onsite when unexpected weather moves in quickly. If you don’t show up and we do go out, credit cards will be charged in full. No payment is due for any trips cancelled by JK Kayak & SUP. Just go to our book now page and make another reservation.

Can we have a private trip with just our family and friends in the group? We can accomodate your group in this way by setting up your trip in advance. Please contact us by e-mail at info@jkkayak.com or phone at 1-800-489-0398 to discuss.
