Southampton - (Bullhead Bay) - Use 299 Barkers Island Rd. for GPS. Rt. 27 east to Southampton (Shinnecock Hills) - left on Tuckahoe Rd. (pass Shinnecock Hills Golf Club) - left on Barkers Island Rd. - at sharp right bend in road, stay straight on Barkers Island dirt road. Park on side of road and look for our white van & kayak trailer. About 50 mins. from Hauppauge & Exit 56 on L.I.E. Hampton traffic has never been a problem at our location in the 15 years we have been coming here so please don't miss out on our favorite location with the fear of traffic. You are off the main road as soon as you get near the town. Easy drive and no traffic!
Our put-in location is surrounded by (4) prominent golf clubs, Shinnecock Hills GC, National Golf Links, Sebonack GC & Southampton GC.
After a brief demonstration on paddling we will venture out from a secluded beach. Our beautiful location is full of interesting landscapes and wildlife. Don’t be surprised to see deer walking across the road or swimming in the bay. The many osprey nests and a bountiful of birds like Osprey, Egrets, Heron, Cormorants, Geese, Swans & Ducks as well as sea life will be available to view on your trip. We have seen bald eagles on our trips, so bring your binoculars. Be on the look out for thousands of Fiddler Crabs retreating from the sandy shorelines into the beach grass as we paddle by. Our 2 hour tour will take us around Ram Island and its beautiful homes. One 15 acre estate takes 1/2 the island with it’s 12,000 sq. ft. 7 bedroom / 9 bath estate that you may rent for a mere $325,000/month. We will paddle under the small bridge which is the only road giving access to Ram Island from the mainland.
Our premier 3 hour trip (our most popular trip) will also take us around Ram Island, but as an added bonus, through beautiful winding sea grass canals and possibly a stop at a small beach in Scallop Pond to take a break or a quick swim in the calm bay waters. This is the trip you want to take at least once each season.
